One of the twentieth century’s most celebrated fashion photographers, Parkinson attained worldwide recognition for his ingenuity and storytelling through his fashion photography. A keen traveller who took most of his photographs outside of the studio – Parkinson used his wit, inventive style, love of movement and spontaneity to capture some of the most defining fashion and cultural trends of the sixties.
Over five decades in a Sherry butt has created a remarkably deep and complex single malt. Its rich layers of velvety toffee are intertwined with fruity accents that beautifully balance with intense oak notes.
Fashion trends are one of the purest expressions of cultural change. The 60s in Britain ushered in a new spirit of freedom and deep social transformation, which was best represented by 'Swinging London'. Art, fashion and music all played to a new tune.
Fashion photography was the medium of choice to disseminate and fuel this fresh spirit of escapism. Ladyburn Edition Two reflects some of the most transformative fashion photography of the 60s. All were shot between 1960 and 1969, often in exotic locations. Originally commissioned by iconic fashion and lifestyle magazines, including: Vogue, Queen and Life Magazine. This set of eleven photographs share the same spirit of innovation, technological breakthrough and self-belief that led to the creation of Ladyburn.
“Norman Parkinson’s work is the most fitting partner. We have combined the rarest liquid with the mood of the time – until now this had not been done.”
